A New Deck and Update

Well..its only been over a year and I am just going to jump right in and get back to where I left off! We have been pretty busy since I last wrote. But let's get right to the new deck we added. Please bear with me as these are pictures from my Iphone. To get started this is what our backyard looked like before we moved in.
This isn't a very good picture but it is the only one I could find! Sorry. Our backyard was ALL gravel! I was dusting every day and so tired of having dust footprints all over the kitchen floor. We added sod and finished putting in the fence just a month after moving in. Once again not a great picture.
This is from the back of the house looking out towards the alley (where the person would have stood to take the picture of the back of the house) I hope this gives you a little idea of what it looked like before without confusing you to much! Ha. I am good at that. Now onto the deck pictures!
BEFORE

We love our new little deck!! It's just the right amount of space to sit and enjoy dinner on a nice breezy summer evening! And yes I had to add this picture before I finished staining that little spot in. The hubs likes to tease that I can never completely finish a project without moving onto the next. Hope you like the new addition! We plan on staining the fence sometime before the fall. It'll look much better then! I am linking up to A Bowl Full of Lemons linky party.

Until next time..

Inspiration for the bedroooom.

I'm thinking grey walls, white bedding, and striped curtains. Yes. I can't decide if I want splashes of yellow or deep purple. Hmm.

Yellow Dresser for the Nursery

I am so excited for this party! There's nothing I love more than spray paint! Spray paint to me is like duct tape to my husband, it can pretty much fix anything!! Thrifty Decor Chick is having a Spray Paint linky party and I can't wait to show off my latest DIY project. I just had a baby boy 3 months ago and have been slowly fixing up his nursery. I had been looking for the perfect dresser for months and finally found on on craigslist, and I knew exactly what I was going to do with it!

This was my inspiration:
From www.allthingsthrifty.com

This is what my dresser looked like "before". And sorry for the bad pictures, they were taken with my phone since my camera battery was dead.

And here are the pictures of the priming process. I used Kilz spray paint primer and it worked great!!

And finally, the COLOR! I used Krylon Sun Yellow spray paint and it turned out to be the perfect color! At first I thought it was going to be too bright, but when I added the glaze, it just popped and I love it!

And here is the finished product with the glaze. I used the new Martha Stewart glaze from home depot and mixed it with a little black paint and used a sponge brush to paint it on and get it in the crevices, and waited a few minutes and wiped it off with a damp cloth. It was really a simple process and I loved how it turned out! I used the existing knobs and spray painted those with glossy black paint! Once again, these pictures dont do it justice, but I do have one picture of it in my boys room, so I hope you can get a feel for what it really looks like!
